Eid-o-Zahra (PBUH)

In the Name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

Eid-o-Zahra (PBUH)

LSS congratulates the anniversary of the imamate of our lovely imam, al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his advent).  On such a day, the unique duty of imamate was adopted by the son of Imam Hassan al-Askari (PBUT).  Also, this day is reputed as the one on which companions of Imam Sajjad (PBUH) saw a little smile on his face after having suffered massively due to Karbala battle.  And that means great for the genuine Muslims.

As an annual tradition, Mohebban al-Mahdi Group has planned an event to celebrate the 9th of Rabi’ ul-Awwal.  The event will be on Sunday, 13 February 2011, starting from 7 pm at the latest.  This is a very fun and joyful programme which should not be missed out.  Bear in mind that the theme of the event is RED.

The venue of the meeting is:

Manchester Islamic Institute (MII)
5 Sidney Street
Off Oxford Road
Manchester     M1 7HB

To know more about Eid-o-Zahra (PBUH) please refer to our previous post at http://www.liverpool-shia.com/celebrating-eid-o-zahra-pbuh/

Hope to see you all there.

Martyrdom Anniversary of Imam Ja’far Sadiq (PBUH)

In the Name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

Mourning Event on the Martyrdom Anniversary of Imam Ja’far Sadiq (PBUH)

Condolence on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ja’far Sadiq (PBUH).

Manchester Islamic Institute has invited all Muslims to attend this event to recall the tragedy of the martyrdom of Sadiq Ale Muhammad (PBUT). The event is on 04 October 2010, and will start at 7 pm with Maghrib and Isha prayers, and will be followed by lecture and dirge.

Manchester Islamic Institute
5 Sidney Street
Off Oxford Road
Manchester     L1 7HB

After Imam Baqir (PBUH) who well used the condition to talk about the real Islam, Imam Sadiq added significantly to the publication of Islam, pointing out the rationalism and excellence of the Shia with training numerous students, such as Jabir Ibn Hayyan out of his over 2000 students. Knowing about Jabir who is reputed as the ‘Father of Chemistry’ is enough to ponder who knowledgeable Jabir’s trainer has been. Tradition of Mufaddal is another example of the great knowledge Imam had. He developed Shia with revealing its wisdom which was suppressed by the wrong governments after the Prophet (PBUH&HF), and thus, Shia is attributed to Ja’fari as well. Obviously, such person could not be tolerated by the cruel Abbasid caliphs, and saddly, they found his martyrdom as the only way to halt him providing people with the truth, knowledge and wisdom.

Please do inform your friends of this event.

Hope to see you all.

Birthday Anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (PBUH)

In the Name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

Birthday Anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (PBUH)

LSS spreads its sincere congratulations for the birthday anniversary of Imam Hassan Mujtaba (PBUH). It has added to the inspiration of the holy month of Ramadan to have our second imam and the first son of Imam Ali and Sayyeda Fatimah (PBUT) in such holy month.

Imam Hassan was born three years after the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) migrated to the holy city of Madina. Having been trained under direct supervision of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF), Imam Hassan (PBUH) was outstanding in knowledge, piety, tolerance, intelligence and courage. Once Sayyeda Zahra (PBUH) brought her two sons, Hassan and Hussain (PBUT) to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF) and said, “O’ Apostle of Allah, these are your two grandsons. Give them something as an inheritance.” The Holy Prophet (PBUH&HF) replied, “Hassan shall have my form and my nobility, and Husain shall have my generosity and bravery.”

Imam Hassan (PBUH) was quite wealthy, and could have lived in luxury if he desired; however, he preferred to spend his money to help the poor and needy. Outstandingly, he gave away his entire wealth in charity twice in his life, and began all over again. That further to her generous hand caused people to call him ‘Kareem’, meaning munificent.

Once a stranger arrived in Kufa, and asked a man working in a garden for directions. The man showed him the way, and then invited him to share his meal. The stranger was touched by this offer and accepted. But when he was handed some flat bread to eat, he found that it was so hard that he could not even break it on his knee, let alone with his teeth. He tried dipping it into some water but that did not help. The gardener saw the stranger’s discomfort, and pointed him towards a guest house where free meals were given to all.

The guest house belonged to Imam Hasan (PBUH), who himself welcomed the stranger and arranged a hot meal for him. After a while, the Holy Imam (PBUH) saw that the stranger was eating one morsel, and putting one morsel in a bag on his side. The Holy Imam (PBUH) told him to eat peacefully, and if he needed extra food for his family, it would be provided before he left. The stranger said that he had no family but was putting some food aside for the kind gardener down the road who had only hard bread to eat. When he heard this, the Holy Imam (PBUH) smiled and informed him, “That is my father Ali, the Caliph of the Muslims. He lives on simple food so that no needy subject may be embarrassed in front of him.”

He was 37 when he became the Imam after Imam Ali (PBUT). Imam Hassan (PBUH) was at the position of for 10 years when he was martyred by his wife using poisonous food.

The following saying (Hadith) from Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba is one of those invaluable sayings which provide a believer with a great wealth for when s/he will desperately be in need of. Imam Hassan said, “Take what are in your hands for what you will face (in Hereafter). Verily, the believer purveys and the disbeliever just enjoys. Take provisions (for your journey to Hereafter), and certainly, the best provision is being watchful (of one’s duties to Allah).” (2:197)

There are two celebration events today and tomorrow.

Manchester Islamic Institute (MII) has planned for a celebration programme to highlight this birthday anniversary, and has invited all to attend this lovely event to gain the best of the time and to make Ahl al-Bait happy. The event is on 25 August 2010, and commence at 6.45 pm with reciting one Section (Joz’) of the Noble Quran which is the everyday programme of MII. Recitation will be followed by interpretation and tafseer until it approached Maghrib prayer time when the prayers will be performed in group, and the guests will be served by breakfast and supper after which celebration and maddahi will run.

Celebration for Imam Hassan’s (PBUH) birthday anniversary is to happen in Liverpool as well. Liverpool Towhid Centre has organised for a memorable celebration on 26 August 2010 which is the beginning of the ten-day programme of this centre in holy Ramadan. After recitation of one Section of Quran just one hour before Maghrib prayer time, the prayers will be performed in group and the celebration will run after the guest will have their breakfast and supper. For more information, please refer to the post Holy Ramadan Programme at Liverpool Towhid Centre.

Hope to see you all at the celebration parties.

Imam Mahdi’s Great Birthday Anniversary

In the Name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

Imam Mahdi’s Great Birthday Anniversary

Congratulations on the birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi (May the Almighty Allah advent his return) who is our live Imam. Such a birthday has been concurrent with a great day which has been appreciated since the time of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF), and thus, has added to the value of this day. Further to celebrating this event which is a must for a true Shia, some other activities have been recommended by Ahl al-Bait as well, which includes full ablution (qasal), vigil and visiting Imam Hussain (PBUH) or reciting Ziaarat Ashuraa. Further items have been well mentioned in Mafaatih ul-Jinaan. The night of 15th of Sha’baan is a special night as well, as Imam Sadiq (PBUH) has narrated from his father, Imam Baqir (PBUH), that such night is the greatest after the Night of Qadr, and great Mersey of the Almighty Allah will be flowing.

Now, just imagine we are approaching to such a birthday; birthday of a person who is the reason of life, who is the connection between the Almighty Allah and anything else, who is God’s only survivor, who is our only saviour, who is the only infallible in the Universe, and many others… So, what is our duty for his birthday anniversary?

Our Shia lovely friends in Liverpool have worked hard to arrange for a memorable programme at Liverpool Towhid Centre. The event will be celebrated on the birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi (PBUH), Tuesday, 27 July 2010. The programme starts at 8 pm with a ziaarat (probably Aali Yaasin) followed by lecture, mowludi, group prayers and supper, ending at 10.30 pm. The venue of the programme is as follows.

Cochrane St
Heyworth St
Liverpool   L5 4LJ

For further information about the address, you may try the post of 10 Feb 2010 or simply visit the Contact Us page of the web site of Liverpool Towhid Centre. Parking is available on site, and those using bus should take bus No. 17 from Queen Square Bus Station.

Another event will be held at Manchester Islamic Institute on Monday, 26 July 2010. The event will start at 7.30 pm and it looks that there is no end limit for it. The programme includes Holy Quran recitation, game, lecture, mowludi both with experts and kids, lecture and a clip show from the first MII-arranged Omrah journey which was performed recently. Just as a tradition of MII when holding big programmes, please send the number of the people attending the programme to mii_cs@yahoo.co.uk. MII has been located on the address below:

Birthday Anniversary for Imam Hussain, Hazrat Abbas Ibn Ali and Imam Sajjad (PBUT)

In the Name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful

Birthday Anniversary of Imam Hussain, Hazrat Abbas Ibn Ali and Imam Sajjad (PBUT)

Congratulations for a unique birthday anniversary. History of human kind has not seen such consecutive birthdays. It gets special when it is for three extraordinary people, and gets further special when all relate to the greatest revolution in the world in Karbala which is referred by the Holy Quran as the “great scarification”.

We are to and going to celebrate this, as great as we can. Manchester Islamic Institute has set a party event to highlight these lovely days. The programme commences by 8 pm lasting until 10 pm on Thursday 15th of July 2010. The programme will be more interesting when Hamed has just been back from Omra. The programme is going to be held in the place of MII with the following address:

5 Sidney St
Off Oxford Road
Manchester    M1 7HB

Please note that as this programme coincides with our ordinary Thursday meetings, we will all enshaaAllah gather there at the MII to respect the celebration and enjoy such party next to other Shia friends.

Hope to see you all again.
