Days and days, we have been waiting since the last year on the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (PBUH), where all prayed and requested to the Almighty Allah, who mysteriously opened His Ka’ba in the respect of the birth of the Commander of the Believers, to grant us another opportunity of celebrating such great man’s birthday anniversary. And here it is approaching us on 26th of June.

Words cannot describe such pleasure; but the heart of Shia can feel that and fill it out of his love and passion on his attitudes. The pens are inkless when they are to scratch the papers on who such noble person is. So, wise would for now squeeze his words just to say: congratulations and celebrations on the glorious anniversary of Ali Ibn Abi-Talib’s birthday.

Liverpool Towhid Centre has planned for a celebration party to make this anniversary memorable for all for ever. The event is going to be held on Friday, 25 June 2010, from 20.30 until 22.30, and will cover different programmes of lecture, nasheed, quiz and finally, the guests will be served a dish of dinner. The event will be at the current address of Liverpool Towhid Centre as it follows:

Cochrane St
Parking is available on site, and those using bus should take bus No. 17 from Queen Square Bus Station.

Manchester Islamic Institute will be too holding a nice party, as of the previous years, to celebrate this unique birthday.
9th of Rabi’ al-Awwal is the day, when pained Ahl al-Bait ended their mourning following the gruesome tragedy of Karbala and for the first time after the massacre of his father, Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his companions, the 4th Imam, Zayn al-Abideen (PBUH) smiled.

Celebration Event in Manchester Islamic Institute

Manchester Islamic Institute is going to celebrate Eid-o-Zahra (PBUH) on Saturday, 27 February 2010, and has invited all Shia brothers and sisters to attend this ceremony to enjoy such nice and happy day. The event will start at 7 pm.

The venue of the meeting is:

Manchester Islamic Institute
5 Sidney Street
Off Oxford Road
Manchester M1 7HB

The guest of the greatest woman of the whole universe, Sayyedah Zahra (PBUH), will be served by supper at the end of the event.

By the way, the theme of the party is ‘red’!

What is Eid-o-Zahra (PBUH)?

The extraordinary two-month period of mourning reaches its climax with the martyrdom anniversary of the 11th Imam of Shia on the 8th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. The day that follows, according to the traditions, is the greatest eid (celebration) for the lovers of the Ahl al-Bait. Known as Eid-o-Zahra (PBUH), this day honours the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) as a day of great joy and happiness for the believers.

As we recall, this past 70 day period has seen the commemoration of the martyrdom of no less than six infallibles – Imams Hassan, Imam Hussain, Imam Sajjad, Imam Ridha, Imam Hassan Askari and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUT). In addition, we also have marked the martyrdom or demise of other personalities such as Hazrat Abbas, Bibi Masumah and the companions and friends of the Imam on the plains of Karbala. Finally, after such a period of sorrow, we remove the black from our centres and bodies, and go forth to implement the lessons learned during these last months.

In regards to the importance of this day, we are told that there was once a gathering in the city of Madinah. Present were the Prophet and the first three Imams. With a smile on his face, the Prophet said: “It is on this day that Allah will destroy your enemies and the enemies of your grandfather, and it is on this day when Allah will accept the actions of your Shia and those who love you. This is the day when the words of Allah came true where He said (in the Quran): ‘So those are the houses fallen down because they were unjust …’ (27:52). And this is the day when the Pharaoh (Firawn) of the time of the Ahl al-Bait was destroyed …” which actually denotes the death of the second usurper of the position of Imam Ali (PBUH).

One of the important things that we mark is the first official day of the leadership of our living Imam, al-Hujjat Ibn al-Hassan al-Askari (may Allah hasten his advent). As narrated in our duas, ziyaraat and traditions, the return of our 12th Imam will mark the revenge of the blood spilled in Karbala.

It is with this important event that we celebrate Eid-o-Zahra and sincerely ask Allah to hasten the return of His final proof. Through the justice that the Imam will show, this day will truly be marked as the day of Eid for Sayyedah Zahra (PBUH) and all her true followers.

Enjoy this day with your faithful brothers an sisters, and do not forget to pray for the advent of our 12th Imam.
