IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE COMPASSIONATE THE MERCIFUL
“Behold! Whosever I am his master, this Ali is his master. O Allah! Stay firm in supporting those who stay firm in following him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him; help those who help him, and forsake those who forsake him”, said the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF) in Ghadir Sermon.
Liverpool Shia Society has been founded in October 2007 by Shia students in Liverpool universities, and has worked as a pillar to attract Shia people living or studying in Liverpool for weekly meetings. Dua Kumayl of Imam Ali, the Commander of the Believers (PBUH), is normally recited in the meeting preceding any further activity. Further to the blessing of visiting Shia brothers, some religious discussions on monotheism, Ahl al-Bait (family of the Prophet), and Quran are carried out, and thus, the meeting is a knowledge exchange platform next to the fine taste and feeling of praying. As an international meeting, Shia people from different countries with variety of cultures attend to see each other, and share their ideas, experiences and knowledge. Since 2007, the society has experienced successful activities such as study circles and celebrations of festives like Eid Ghadir and Imam’s birthday anniversaries.
The website of Liverpool Shia Society has been established at 2009 Eid Ghadir event which is the most important festive for the Shia. The purpose of the website is to provide a base for weekly meeting calls, society activities and celebrations. Website subscribers will receive notifications on the topic, schedule and venue of the weekly meetings and any other gathering that the society members have planned to hold. Furthermore, useful information may be uploaded on the website for the use of the Shia people in Liverpool. As one of our goals in near future, hopefully and by the will of the Almighty Allah, membership will be offered to those who are interested to contribute in uploading useful information.
Neither is Liverpool Shia Society dependent to any organisation, nor receives any fund from any source, but is a self-managed group led by Liverpool Shia people, particularly the students.
